Dr. Travis Flower is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist practicing in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
Dr. Flower has years of experience providing psychotherapy to a broad range of clients. He is trained in cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic models of therapy, in addition to other approaches. His therapy practices emphasize the use of evidence-based practices that have scientific support to address the client’s particular problems. He commonly works with adults with trauma and other anxiety disorders, depression and other mood disorders, substance abuse and other addictions, problematic sexual behaviors, and challenges with relationships. He supports healthy sexuality, rewarding relationships, and positive identity for all clients, including LGBTQ individuals. He also provides clinical evaluations to diagnose and plan treatment for mental health concerns.
Dr. Flower also provides forensic evaluations, consultation, and expert testimony in legal matters, with a primary focus on evaluating adults in criminal justice contexts. Common areas of practice include evaluations of criminal responsibility, competency, sentence mitigation, and risk of violence and sexual violence.
Dr. Flower graduated from the University of Texas, and then completed his graduate training at the dual-doctorate program in Law and Clinical Psychology at Widener University. He earned a law degree and a doctorate in clinical psychology in 2004. He has worked in a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and residential treatment settings. Between 2008 and 2019, he was a Clinical Psychologist in D.C. at Saint Elizabeths Hospital, where he provided psychotherapy to a variety of forensic patients, and conducted a range of evaluations for the hospital’s Forensic Consult Service. He has been a professor and an invited lecturer at several universities and professional schools, including teaching forensic psychology at Catholic University of America from 2010 to 2018. Dr. Flower had maintained a private practice in clinical psychology prior to joining Woodbridge Psychological Associates.
