Dr. Sahair Monfared is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist practicing in Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland.
Dr. Monfared’s orientation to psychotherapy is integrative; she recognizes the value of psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral and family approaches. Dr. Monfared has come to believe that no one approach is necessarily the best. Each individual is unique, so the therapeutic approach that is used should reflect the needs of the client.
By tailoring therapy to fit the needs of each individual, an atmosphere is created in which the client feels secure to explore his or her feelings. She has worked in many different treatment settings, and with diverse population of adults and adolescents. Dr. Monfared has experience treating individuals, couples, and families.
In addition to psychotherapy, Dr. Monfared conducts psychological evaluations in connection with a variety of issues, including substance abuse, intellectual/cognitive functioning, employment and bariatric surgery. She also provides forensic psychological evaluations in criminal, civil, as well as immigration legal matters. These include Competency to Stand Trial, Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, Mitigation, and Sex Offender Risk Assessments.
After graduating from the University of Virginia, Dr. Monfared received a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Marymount University. She earned a second Masters in Clinical Psychology, as well as a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Monfared served as the Clinical Director of Life Enhancement Services, where she was responsible for the implementation, oversight, and day-to-day management of specific programs.
Currently, Dr. Monfared is the Director of Training at Woodbridge Psychological Associates, where she provides supervision to pre-doctoral psychology students.
