Dr. Wilson is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Woodbridge Psychological Associates, PC, providing both assessment and therapy services under the supervision of senior staff at our Woodbridge and Reston Locations. Dr. Wilson is experienced in General Psychological and Cognitive evaluation, Forensic Mental Health evaluations, Competency to Stand Trial, Mental State at the Time of the Offense (Insanity), Presentence Mitigation, Psychosexual evaluation, Violence Risk assessment, Guardianship evaluation, Police/Public Safety Pre-Employment evaluation, Parental Capacity evaluation, and Disability assessment.
As a psychotherapist, Dr. Wilson takes an individualistic approach in her clinical work in an attempt to meet each person’s unique needs and goals. She draws on a number of therapeutic techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution focused intervention. Dr. Wilson also strives to work collaboratively with her clients utilizing a strengths-based approach. At the heart of her therapeutic work is the therapeutic relationship where she seeks to provide a space of warmth and safety. Please note that, because she is still working towards licensure as a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Wilson’s therapy and evaluation services are not reimbursable by health insurance.
Dr. Wilson earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Northern Virginia in 2018. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology in 2022 at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Washington D.C. Dr. Wilson has trained and worked at some of the foremost institutions in the D.C. metropolitan and outlying areas including: the D.C. Superior Court, Eastern State Hospital, St. Elizabeths Hospital, the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute, Sibley Memorial Hospital, Medstar Washington Hospital Center, Dominion Hospital and also has substantial experience working in private practice. Dr. Wilson recently completed her doctoral internship at Southeast Human Service Center located in Fargo, North Dakota where she was provided rigorous training in assessment and intervention within a community mental health setting. Her broad clinical experience ensures that clients are provided with the highest quality of care.
