Throughout her career, Dr. Carrera has provided psychological assessments for a wide variety of referrals and is trained in providing evidence-based treatments for a variety of complex mental health conditions with a special emphasis in treating anxiety, insomnia, and PTSD. Dr. Carrera has experience with consultation, performance enhancement education, specialized coaching for career transition and leadership development. She is fluent in spoken and written Spanish and offers therapy and comprehensive psychological testing services in both English and Spanish. Dr. Carrera utilizes an integrative approach, which incorporates psychological testing results, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Applied Psychology and mindfulness to target both physical and mental fitness.
Dr. Carrera is an Army Veteran and clinical psychologist who spent her active-duty career specializing in fitness for duty evaluations and assessment and selection for Army aviators as an aeromedical psychologist. As an Army Reservist/Veteran, she has provided services across multiple government organizations. Currently, she serves as an Operational Psychologist, providing assessment and selection, as part of the Army’s Modernization initiative to assess officer’s potential and fitness for command. She currently holds licenses to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
After completing her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Columbia College University, Dr. Carrera pursued a Masters and Doctorates degrees in Clinical Psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology. Her doctoral research focused on the Experience of Self-Conscious Emotions in Post Combat Deployment Soldiers. Dr. Carrera completed her Clinical Psychology Internship and Post-Doctoral Residency Programs at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, GA. As part of her Post-Doctoral Residency training, she completed a behavioral health officer rotation with the 101 st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
