Claudia views therapy as a collaboration between the client and herself. Her approach relies upon the client’s knowledge about themselves and their identified strength, in combination with her knowledge and application of different treatment models, to assist the client in formulating personal goals and making healthy changes in their life. She understand the importance of connecting easily and genuinely with a client, helping them to feel comfortable in the therapeutic process and successful in treatment.

Claudia has worked in a number of mental health settings, beginning in residential treatment for adolescents, progressing to an inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults and continuing for the past 20 years in the public sector providing outpatient mental health treatment. She has worked with a diverse age group that has included children, adolescents, and adults, providing a variety of types of treatment that include individual, couples and family therapy.

Claudia’s experience includes working with individuals and families on problems that include depression, anxiety, family trauma and sexual abuse. She has also helped individuals work on issues related to parenting, divorce, life transitions, school related problems and other interpersonal relationship problems.

Claudia Bailey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. She earned her B.A. degree in Psychology from Mary Washington University and then earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
