Richard Conner is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist practicing in Prince William County and offers individual therapy, couples therapy, psychological, and psychoeducational testing services. Dr. Conner sees adults and adolescents as young as 13 for short-term and long-term psychotherapy, with special training in Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, ADHD, Conduct & Oppositional-Defiant Disorders, and Personality Disorders.
Dr. Conner utilizes a flexible approach to psychotherapy, recognizing that not every individual seeks the same experience from psychotherapy. Some individuals seek an open, safe place where concerns can be discussed and some individuals seek an individual who will guide them toward resolution to their current hardships. A thorough intake process helps to fully take in the client’s information, toward a concrete understanding and agreement to the client’s difficulty, in addition to the underlying patterns that contribute to current difficulty.
Dr. Conner conducts psychological evaluations to determine intelligence, academic functioning, social & emotional functioning, capacity of attention, and personality. Individuals seeking an evaluation from Dr. Conner should first expect a thorough consultation of the referral, in the service of refining the testing questions, followed by a careful choice of measures that best serve to answer those questions. This consultation serves as the blueprint for the best method to understand the questions and whether testing will serve as the primary method to obtain those answers.
Dr. Conner graduated from George Washington University in 2013 obtaining his Psy.D. and attended American University obtaining a bachelors degree in Psychology in 2007. Dr. Conner has worked in several environments, such as conducting evaluations within a court system, providing therapeutic services in a juvenile detention center, an adult detention center, and a juvenile corrections facility.
